The Fashion Week bandwagon hits the capital from September 18 to 23, and if you're looking for a trendy, last-minute idea to kick off your London hen party, I've got just the thing. The uber-hip Met Bar, in the Metropolitan hotel on Park Lane (metbar.co.uk), has launched a style-setting afternoon tea with low-fat cupcakes and cookies inspired by handbag designer Lulu Guinness's quirky designs - think lip-shaped sweet treats, cameo head cupcakes and the like. It's £24 each - and you'll even get a discount card for 15 per cent off purchases from Lulu's Ellis Street, SW1, store. You'll have to be quick though - it only runs until September 26 (if you don't make it by then, the Met Bar's regular afternoon tea is just as delicious).
Having fashion-fabulous hen celebrations elsewhere? Harvey Nichols (harveynichols.com) serves suitably stylish afternoon tea in its Bristol, Leeds and Manchester store restaurants. Brighton hens should head to the sleek Park Inn, Landsdowne Place (lansdowneplace.co.uk), while Liverpool-bound ladies can get their cake and Champagne fix at St John restaurant in the Sir Thomas Hotel (sirthomashotel.co.uk). Heading to Edinburgh? Go for old-school glamour at The Balmoral (thebalmoralhotel.com). And if you're destined for Cardiff, head to the cool surrounds of The St David's Hotel and Spa (thestdavidshotel.com).
