It has been press week this week - well I say 'week' but it carries on for a month! Its when all the fashion houses open up their doors and welcome in journalists such as yours truly to go in and see the new collections for next season - in this case Spring Summer for 2010. I've seen some wonderfully exciting things - from beautiful jewellery collections to great new shoe ranges and even trying the lastest 'mink' Chanel nail varnish which I am sporting now. Apparently their very latest Jade colour, out now, sold out in 40 minutes in Selfridges. Crazy I know, but that's fashion for you.
What I was particularly loving this week were some fab pieces for men I spotted. Poor old boys so often get left behind in the fashion rush, and sadly its very true when it comes to weddings, as its all about the Bride and don't we know it! So here are my top finds of the week which would make perfect gifts for grooms.
Go to Hackett for fab honeymoon pieces - if you're having a trousseau, why shouldn't he? For the best looking groom on the beach, they do colourful and fun swimshorts from £60, sunglasses from £169, and straw tribys from £50, www.hackett.com
Why not invest in a great shirt for his wedding day that he can wear forever - Ralph Lauren do the best range, Black Label, from £140, Purple Label from £205 and for casual wear Polo from £70, all 100% cotton. Shirts come beautifully packaged in RL boxes which are not only great for gift presentation but handy to keep when travelling, keeping shirts in pristine condition. www.ralphlauren.co.uk.
For some fun and games there's no other place better than Smythson. Invest in something luxurious than you can take on honeymoon, and enjoy forever. The fab roll up leather with a cool croc print backgammon set is £295, the brown mara bridge card case £185, brown mara bridge set is £395 and the ever fashionable brown mara poker set £595. Think of them as an investment and make like James Nond in your no doubt chic and secluded resort, playing away. There's no better time to take up a game of bridge, poker or even learn together/teach one another, than on honeymoon when you've little to do...! www.smythson.com
Finally, a personal favourite which I invested in for my groom and which he still carries around obsessively (he truly loves it!) is the extremely chic Asprey's calf leather business/credit card holder in an array of colours and which you can engrave with his initials. From £110. Don't you want your groom to be slick? www.asprey.com
So go on, give those grooms a bit of love and invest in a gorgeous wedding gift from you to them that they can have fun with and hopefully treasure as a momento - its not all about you, you know!
