The Daily Mail reported this morning that brides are
turning their back on the traditional white wedding dress in favour
of dramatic black gowns. They suggest that the increase in evening
weddings has led to many brides choosing elegant LBDs, while others
are just looking for the 'wow' factor.
Vera Wang, arguably one of the bridal world's most influential
designers, included a theatrical black dress within her bridal
collection, whilst other designs featured trailing bow sashes or
statement elbow-length gloves in the colour.
Is this to be the future of bridal fashion? Are we to wave goodbye
to the classic white dress? We think not, but if brides are in any
doubt about the power of black, they only need hear that Sarah
Jessica Parker wore it for her wedding to Matthew Broderick in
1997. If the Sex And The City girls are behind it then so
are we.
