I have a grandmother who thinks that you can never be too old for an advent calendar, and this morning, at the age of 29, I found myself opening the 7th window of my calendar. It's made of card with beautiful festive illustrations but disappointingly chocolate-free, and as the days pass I'm find myself craving a cocoa hit.
Quite frankly, there are few of us who wouldn't welcome a small chocolate treat every now and again, and I suspect your wedding guests are no different. Little chocolate favours are the perfect solution and here are some 'naughty but nice' ideas:
The brand new limited edition chocolate macaroons from Ladurée are my latest guilty pleasure. Covered in edible gold leaf they taste delicious, and are packaged in chic boxes designed by fashion brand Marni. Pop a box on each table as coffee is served. Available in boxes of 8 (£12) or 18 (£21.50) from www.laduree.com.
Thornton's chocolates are a great 'chiconomic' option. You can have your favourite chocolate supplied in beautiful boxes printed with the name of you and your groom. Attach a nametag and put one at each seat for a favour that doubles as a place card. £1.13 per box www.thorntons.co.uk
Whenever Hotel Chocolat send samples to the Brides office, they never last long. Their boxed mini slabs, £3.95, are a great gift for guests. Purists will love the plain and milk chocolate options, but for more adventurous chocoholics, try the Caramellow - caramel and creamy white chocolate with melt-in-the mouth chunks of honey florentine, cinder toffee and caramel drops. www.hotelchocolat.co.uk.
