Britta Kjerkegaard has long been admired by the Brides fashion team for her stunning, elegant gowns which always have a sense of drama to them, we join her at her newly renovated boutique in Kensington to discover her inspirations and top predictions for future trends.

I'm best known for...
my built-in corsets which are in all my couture gowns to give the bride the ultimate feminine shape and an amazing silhouette.

My evening range is... 
a neverending project...I don't follow the fashion trends as such, but am forever redesigning the classics adding a little twist: the little black dress that can be worn two ways, the easy-to-wear jersey dress perfect for both day and night, the stylish white shirt embellished with laces and pearls.

Brides visiting my boutique will find...
a personal and professional service focusing entirely on the individual bride to be. Each gown is made bespoke in-house, which gives a flexibility and freedom in designing. The bride will try on my latest couture collection samples whilst being guided on the perfect shape, colour and style for her. We also offer bridesmaids dresses, bridal shoes and various accessories.

I love working in bridal because...
having set up my own couture label, I am now able to design and create the perfect gown for each individual bride-to-be, by being inspired by her dreams, incorporating her ideas and visions.
A woman's wedding gown is probably the most significant and expensive dress she will ever wear. It's a huge responsibility and an honour; the first time a bride sent me her photographs of the wedding day was an incredibly humbling experience.

My bridal collection is...
created with a varied colour palette. The spring/summer 2010 collection that I am launching at The Designer Wedding Show in October has, in addition to Ivory, shades of Blush, Rose, Champagne, Antique Ivory and splashes of darker tones in the form of hand beaded lace and flower trimmings.
I love the softness and romantic feel of these warmer shades they're so much more flattering than traditional pure white, which is often too harsh on most skin tones.

I am...
unbelievably lucky to have made a career out of doing what I love and most of all to be able to combine this with having an amazing and supporting family without whom none of this would be possible or worthwhile.
