This weekend I spotted the first sign of spring - little crocus flowers in the park - which got me thinking about spring wedding tablecentres with a difference. Brides getting married at this time of year should make the most of beautiful spring bulbs. Rather than vases of cut flowers, consider decorating your reception tables with baskets planted with blooming hyacinth bulbs, crocuses, daffodils or narcissi. These flowers come in a variety of colours - blues, purples, pinks, yellows and white - so there's a flower to suit your colour scheme and they also tend to have heady scents, which will fragrance your reception space. Sprigs of Pussy Willow and Blossom are also great choices for spring weddings. Arrange bundles of each in large urns to create dramatic arrangements for your reception entrance. For a pretty finishing touch, decorate the branches with satin ribbon bows, or alternatively hang escort cards from the branches for a quirky table plan. Ask your florist to incorporate the same flowers in your bouquet and the buttonholes to create a cohesive wedding look, and don't forget fresh blooms for the cake too.
