Last week I went to visit one of my favourite bridal shoe designers Emmy. Emmy designed my own wedding shoes which were not only absolutely perfectly beautiful and just what I wanted but also, to this day were most comfortable shoes I have ever worn - and trust me I have a lot of shoes! Comfort - exactly what you need when it comes to shoes on your wedding day. We caught up at Jenny Packham's London boutique on Elizabeth Street SW1, as Emmy does a special range for Jenny. I was particularly fascinated with the news of Emmys new range which includes thick heels which are very Forties and fashionably very 'now'. It turns out that the heels have been inspired as a direct response to the National Trust properties (of which many are wedding venues!) not permitting girls to wear stiletto heels due to damage caused on historic wooden floors. This I did not know - quel horreur! Imagine finding your dream venue only for them to tell you 'flats only, love'. So Emmy has taken this on and designed a thicker heel exceeding a five penny piece in diameter (this is the rule). Five penny heels can be applied to any shoe in her collection and are now on offer to all brides wishing to wed at a National Trust property - and all brides who just want a glam old Forties look! Prices from £200. While you are looking don't forget to check out Emmy's new hair collection which includes stunning crystal alice bands - my favourite is the crystal bow version. They make for gorgeous alternatives to the traditional tiara! Prices from £80.
