It might be hard to believe, but in the almost three years I've worked at Brides I've never once tried on a wedding dress... until now. For all the thousands of creations of froth and frou-frou that have been through our office, I never wanted to tempt fate until I had that ring firmly on my finger. Maybe I should've have paid more attention, because now I have no idea what I like...

You see, on a day-to-day basis I have no problem knowing exactly what is and isn't 'me', but wedding 'me', aaah I don't know! Am I long, short, poofy, sleek? Well, fortunately our lovely shopping editor Astrid Joss asked me to take part in one of Brides' famous makeover shoots last week. Woo, a whole day of dressing up...

If you're not familiar with the Brides makeover shoots (and I've seen many as I use to work on the shoots and write the captions) we take four or five brides-to-be and Astrid styles them from the 'before' shot into a 'wedding' look depending on their personal style, wedding style and wedding season.

So last Thursday in a studio in Shoreditch I got my makeover moment - I won't give too much away (you'll have to wait for the Jan/Feb 2011 issue!) but I had more fun than I'd even imagined trying on sparkly headdresses, bows, veils and, when Astrid wasn't looking, even the other girls' dresses... from which I can tell you the Grecian look is not me. But my final look? Well, I felt like a swan on the way to a ball - it was fabulous! And it's prompted me to stop stressing and book some dress appointments because, as I learnt, trying is the only route to The One.
