There's been huge excitement about next year's royal wedding. We asked Charlotte Balbier, one of the industry's most popular designers (who is particularly excited about it all!), her thoughts from the bridal fashion front line.
Why do you think the royal wedding is exciting?
At heart we are all romantics and want the fairytale ending. A royal wedding is romantic, fairytale and exciting. I also think this royal wedding is extra special as William and Kate are a modern-day fairytale.
What do you think of Kate's style?
Right now Kate has been playing it pretty safe with her wardrobe choices but this is all about to change. Her signature style is elegant and chic, and with Kate's look and figure I predict a new style icon in the making.
How do you translate this into bridal?
Simple, elegant, timeless with a touch of red carpet glamour with a dash of cool fashion! Think soft draped silk fabrics but with a twist, maybe a quirky sleeve detail or an over-sized corsage.
Which of your own dresses would you put forward?
I want to play up to her English Rose looks and personality and keep her young, fresh, but not compromise her elegant effortless chic style. Bridal style Loren (pictured) would be perfect. This soft lace gown with delicate crystal detail in a fishtail style would suit Kate's slender figure. The lace is young and on-trend but has a regal and romantic look and feel to it. I would add a small cap sleeve for the princess-to-be.
What accessories would you suggest?
I would love to see Kate in a very long cathedral veil as they are so romantic. For the day I think Kate will wear some treasures from the Royal family, but for the evening I would love to see Kate break tradition and change her look to something more modern.
