With all this snow we have had, most of the UK has turned into a magical wonderland and I absolutely love it! I have always adored winter weddings, Christmas trees, fairy lights, snow, lots of sparkle, guests looking cosy and chic in their Christmas frocks and fur coats, the bride and bridal party styled to perfection in their glamorous and festive attire... what's not to love?
Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular with couples choosing December as the month to tie the knot. Christmas week and also NYE are hot dates in the bridal diary. For those of you wanting to have a winter wedding here are some of my favourite ideas.
Claridge's London is my favourite hotel and especially at Christmas, Claridge's is London's Art Deco jewel. Designed to perfection in the Twenties, with many original features still in place. The hotel all year round is beautiful but especially at Christmas when it is decorated with festive decorations and not forgetting it's designer Christmas tree, designed by John Galliano for Dior for the second year running (WOW, wonder if he would mind doing my tree?!). With the open fires roaring, champagne flowing and the luxurious Art Deco surroundings Claridge's is my number one choice for a Christmas wedding.
The Twenties influence/theme from Claridge's can be carried through to your other bridal choices; a red carpet glam gown is a must... my gown Sicily (pictured) is an Oscars-style gown and would look perfect matched with a Marabou fur jacket or wrap, ideal to keep you cosy but chic in the winter. Accessories just have to be sparkly and fabulous, a vintage-style side hairband would be amazing. One of my favourite accessories designers is Flo and Percy, they make beautiful pieces that compliment my gowns, see the collection at www.floandpercy.com.
I am very excited as I have had lots of Charlotte Balbier brides get married over the past few weeks in the snow and I am now eagerly awaiting their pictures. Last year was the same: one couple Roo and Damien tied the knot on December 21st and Roo looked like a snow queen in her Charlotte Balbier 'Pixie' gown.
To all my brides who are set to marry over the next few weeks, have a wonderful winter wonderland wedding!
