Congratulations to Canadian country singer, Shania Twain (pictured), who married Swiss businessman Frédéric Thiébaud on New Year's Day in Puerto Rico. The singer looked beautiful and miraculously younger than her 45 years in a white strapless dress with a black sash and full-length veil from a small Swiss boutique, accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and Calvin Klein shoes. Her groom wore a white three-piece suit with a black open neck shirt. Originally old friends, romance blossomed when the pair discovered that their respective ex-spouses were having an affair; from the stunning photographs it seems they definitely had the last laugh. The couple said their vows in a beach ceremony in front of 40 close family and friends.
In similarly exotic climes on New Year's Day, Girls Aloud's most notorious party girl, Sarah Harding, said yes to boyfriend DJ Tom Crane's proposal during a romantic break in the Maldives. No date has been set, but three of her four bandmates, Nicola, Kimberley and Cheryl are expected to be bridesmaids. Let's hope Nadine's not too upset to be left off the list - she has got her own wedding to plan after all.
Former Doctor Who star, David Tennant, is set to marry actress girlfriend Georgia Moffet, daughter of another ex-doctor, Peter Davidson, after dating for two-and-a-half years. A 2012 New Year's Day wedding is apparently on the cards.
There'll be more beautiful brides in 2011 across the other side of the Atlantic, after Hollywood favourite, Reese Witherspoon, became engaged for a second time (the actress divorced Ryan Philippe in 1996) to Hollywood agent, Jim Toth, after a year of dating; and Natalie Portman said yes to her Black Swan co-star's proposal. The French-born Benjamin Millepied, a professional ballet dancer, and the actress first met on the set last year and are now also expecting a child together.
