Ah a subject close to my heart: the honeymoon. You see, part of my job here at Brides involves editing our annual honeymoon guide. So unlike wedding dresses where I didn't know my fishtail from my fabrics; honeymoons, you could say, I know rather too much about...

But where shall I go on honeymoon? It's a question I've been asked a lot over the past few months and weeks as one after another my friends have got engaged and I have turned into their resident travel agent. First off I would suggest for that 'once in a lifetime' experience - go somewhere you've never been before. As much as there's nothing wrong with a tried-and -ested classic, you'll never get that first time flutter if you've already walked the streets of Rome or seen waves lap on the beaches of Barbados.

Secondly it's not just about you. And third, relax.... The Boy would have me diving, sailing, trekking and surfing for three weeks solid if he had his way. Whereas I would probably have us by the beach doing little more than ambling to the markets and sampling every local food possible. In reality a bit of both does a happy-honeymoon make-ith, and with cheaper flights across Europe and Asia (and our decreasing attention spans), a twin-destination honeymoon is becoming more and more standard, and the options pretty much endless (well, direct flights permitting).

Lastly be realistic about your budget, your tolerance for heat, the chance of rain (check the country's weather for your honeymoon months) and taking malaria tablets (www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk is essential) and don't try and cram too much into your two-week escape. After all, you have the rest of your lives to explore new places together...

And where will I go? Well, you'll just have to wait and see...
