Dressing the mother of the bride has long been an obsession of any wedding - quite simply because a) the next most important woman at any wedding after the bride is her mother, b) mothers are even more fussy, more nervous and more obsessive about what to wear than the bride, if that is possible.
There are of course many brands out there, thousands in fact, that you can send mummy dearest off to. But it can be thousands indeed before you finally find, just as a bride finds her dress, 'The One'. So when styling a mother-of-the-bride shoot last week I tried to draw inspiration from woman of the MOB age who always get it right - stylish and fashionable without falling into dangerous 'mutton dressed as lamb' territory. In my search I came across the fabulous Joanna Lumley whose raison d'être in life is to get it right.
Ms Lumley, a great friend of Prince Charles and a tireless charity supporter chooses John Charles to wear to her high-profile events. The John Charles collection is more than perfect for mothers of brides with its modern and elegant designs, including knee-skimming tailored suits and glamorous floor length gowns using luxe fabrics such as silks, chiffons, jacquards, taffeta and intricate embellishments. Choose from over 60 pieces in stunning original prints and vibrant hues such as blues, plums, reds, pinks etc as well as rich golds and silvers.
Prices range from £550 - £850.
