The couple became engaged in October 2010, after a nine-year courtship which began after the two met while studying at the University of St Andrews.

The wedding is expected to be attended by a cross-section of society - from key members of the royal family, to famous faces such as David and Victoria Beckham, the Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha, as well as charity leaders and members of the public.

While Prince William and his brother Harry spent the night at Clarence House, the Middleton family stayed together at The Goring Hotel in Belgravia, where Kate will leave promptly today at 10.51am with her father Michael, to arrive at Westminster Abbey for the ceremony at 11am. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds will then depart from the Abbey as part of a royal procession for the reception at Buckingham Palace, where the couple are scheduled to appear on the balcony at 1.25pm, alongside the Queen and both their families, for a romantic kiss watched by thousands around the globe!

This morning the Queen announced the couple's new titles: Prince William will become His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and on marriage Kate (or Miss Catherine Middleton) will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.

One of the most exciting things about the day is that we finally get to see Kate Middleton's wedding dress - surely one of the world's best-kept secrets! Everyone from Bruce Oldfield to Sophie Cranston of the Libelula label have been in the frame as the designer of the gown.

However, Sarah Burton of the Alexander McQueen label is said to have been photographed entering The Goring Hotel yesterday evening - so currently, we have our fingers crossed for a beautiful Alexander McQueen creation! Watch this space.
