Italy is hard to beat for romance. It's where we'll be our first weeks as a married couple and when I'm feeling overwhelmed by the wedding 'to do' list, I remember all that's in store for us, including a very special honeymoon.
Relaxing amid vineyards and olive groves at the fabulous Borgo Santo Pietro is firmly on our agenda. This 13th century villa, in the heart of the Tuscan countryside has been immaculately restored, and is the ultimate grown-up retreat.
Inside, a stylish scene is set with antique furniture, crystal chandeliers, rich fabrics and roll-top bathtubs. Outside, there are the beautifully landscaped grounds, orchards and vegetable gardens to explore.
The outdoor infinity pool is where we'll cool off after blissful hours lazing in the sun and if we're in the mood for pampering, there's an award-winning spa offering indulgent treatments.
As you would expect from a 5-star hotel in Tuscany, Borgo Santo Pietro has high standards when it comes to food, focusing on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. We're huge fans of Italian cuisine and can't think of anything more romantic than enjoying dinner by candlelight on the terrace, after a day of doing very little. We'll be raising our glasses of prosecco to 'la dolce vita' and the start of married life.
