If we had £1 for every time we were asked where to find the best vintage wedding dresses (truly vintage dresses mind, not 'inspired by' or 'in the style of') we'd be millionaires by now...

FIND YOUR DREAM DRESS HERE

Whilst many boutiques carry a stock of heirloom gowns, lovingly restored to their former glory and made wearable once more (we're looking at you, Halfpenny London, Charlie Brear and Luella's Boudouir) these are few and far between.

Then there are the masters of vintage wears - like William Vintage and Beyond Retro - but fashion, not bridalwear, is the focus here.

So imagine our surprise when we heard about a boutique dedicated entirely to vintage wedding dresses opening its doors in Shoreditch!

FINDING THE RIGHT DRESS SHAPE FOR YOU

Located on the corner of Old Street, House of Vintage Bride is a little haven of bridal bliss…

Away from the hustle and bustle of the streets, this is a treasure trove of vintage gowns and one-off bridal garments ranging from  1930's hand-embroidered frocks to classic 1940's satin slips, beaded beauties from the 1960's and everything in between.

Operating on a strict 'by appointment only'-basis between Thursday and Sunday, their selection is unique and edited for each appointment; each consultation stocked with dresses according to your size and style preference.

COUNTDOWN TO YOUR GOWN

A bridal offshoot of Brick Lane's famous House of Vintage, the boutique was masterminded by company director Marcia Cooper, borne out of her own struggle to find a vintage frock for her big day:

"It's really overwhelming," explains Marcia, "going from vintage store to vintage shop hoping to find the right dress that is in the right condition, that isn't stained and the right size and the rest of it. Now you can come here and have lots of style and size options. You're not in some cramped fitting room and you have space to make what is a really big decision."

And space you'll have... A high ceiling, rustic wooden floors and plenty of natural light set the tone for the helpful, friendly and laid-back service of House of Vintage Bride.

HOW TO GO BESPOKE WITHOUT GOING BROKE

To make it all even better, the dresses are affordable too.! Starting from about £200 to £1,200, most dresses fall around the £500-£600 price bracket. Shopping for a vintage dress will never be the same again...
