'Someone told me there's a girl our there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair,' sang Led Zeppelin. That girl could be anyone, but we reckon that girl has Lila flowers in her hair.
Lila Designs, the creative outlet of Sofia Karamani, is quite possibly the dreamiest of bridal headpieces out there.
Her intricate hand-crafted creations truly are beautiful to behold and have an heirloom quality about them. These are couture accessories, crafted delicately from clay (yes, clay) and moulded to look like the freshest of blooms.
You may think that clay will make the headpiece rather stiff and hard, brittle and easy to break, but it isn't; Sofia uses a special clay which becomes lighter and slightly soft when it dries, giving her creations a seemingly 'alive' feel, but with longevity in mind.
Her meticulous approach and attention to detail means that no two pieces are ever the same, which makes them all the more romantic. And because it is all made by hand she can customise design, adjust sizes and match colours.
Some of our favourite designs include her lily of the valley headpieces, although her rose buds and gold leaf work are also second to none.
Most recently, she's been approached by Claire Pettibone to design a bespoke collection of headpieces to match her gowns for The Castle her flagship store in Los Angeles, California. She will also be exhibiting at Brides The Show this weekend (March 22-23).
