From the second she announced her engagement to male model and long-time beau Johanness Huebl, we knew Olivia Palermo's big day would be one stylish affair. Her surprise July wedding certainly didn't disappoint and proved to be worthy of iconic status.
For the first time, the fashionista and newlywed has spoken about what inspired her big day look:
"I had an idea of what I was looking for and I took some old Hollywood inspiration and put my own twist onto it," she told Australian television's The Today show. (Olivia and Johannes are in Australia for a series of public appearances, naturally.)
"It was a little short, a little light but also conservative on top - a bit of a balance is good."
"It was really nice to work with Carolina Herrera's team and I think it turned out really well," she added.
Appearing on a radio programme later on, the socialite spoke about why she chose a low-key look for her big day in a quiet park in New York: "It was traditional. Why? Well, it was a nice civil ceremony for family and I think I might do something later in the year for friends."
And for that we shall wait with bated breath!

Last week it was rumoured that Olivia Palermo and Johanness Huebl had tied the knot, now it has confirmed by the beautiful couple themselves.
The fashionista and her German model beau tied the knot at an intimate do on Saturday in a quiet park in Bedford, New York.
"We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us," said the blushing bride on her blog, "[we] enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends. Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside."
Olivia, as you'd expect, looked stunning. She wore a Carolina Herrera three-piece for the special occasion; a cream cashmere sweater with scattered ostrich feathers teamed with chic white shorts and a full tulle skirt overlay, cinched in at the waist with a high slit in the front and floral laser-print details along the hem. Her something blue? Her Manolo Blahniks, of course.
Her hair was worn in her signature center-parted pony tail and smoky eyes complemented with full lashes, groomed brows and a matt pink lipstick. As for her jewellery, she wore stud earrings by Alexandra Mor and a bracelet bought while visiting India last year.
Johanness matched his bride's all-white ensemble with a bespoke tailored Marc Anthony Hamburg suit and shirt.
The newly-weds and their guests then made their way back into New York City for a party to celebrate becoming husband and wife.
The civil ceremony in New York is only 'Part I' of their celebrations, however. The couple are said to be planning a second celebration in St Bart's, where Johanness proposed last December.
Congratulations to the gorgeous couple!

Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl are now Mr and Mrs!
According to new reports, the 28-year-old beauty and her beau have secretly tied the knot at Manhattan's City Hall last Saturday, with just three guests in tow.
Page Six reports that the German model was having problems with his visa, so they had to bring their wedding forward:
"They were planning a big wedding in the fall, but Johannes left Wilhelmina Models last year, and he currently isn't with an agency, and was told he would have to leave the US in September.
"Olivia's friends were surprised when they got married at City Hall on Saturday, with the only guests being his friend Ulli Saeuberlich and her parents, who weren't happy with the rush, but decided to be there at the last minute."
A spokesperson for Olivia Palermo has insisted they are "not married yet," though she did admit they were planning a small ceremony this month ahead of a bigger celebration later.
"They had always planned to have a small civil wedding in June," Palermo's people said. "The whole visa thing is not relevant. They have been together for six-and-a-half years, they got engaged this past January. They travel so much during the summer, they really don't have much time to plan things. They are not married yet. They are doing a much smaller civil ceremony in the States this month and they are planning to do something much larger later on."
