How much would you pay to own a slice of history? Now may well be the time to put your money where your mouth is.
A slice of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding cake is due to go on sale at a private auction this December in Beverly Hills, California.
The real focus of the auction will be a number of dresses worn by the late Princess Diana, seventeen years after the icon herself auction the items off for charity.
Whilst the dresses - many of which were designed by couturier and bridal designer Catherine Walker - are expected to sell for as much as £80,000 each, the slice of cake from Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding is believed to fetch between £600 and £1,200.
The famous confectionary, baked by Fiona Cairns, is being sold in its commemorative tin by Julien's Auction House in Beverly Hills, California.
Also in the auction: a blank invitation to the royal wedding, printed on Queen Elizabeth II's Buckingham Palace Stationery.
