Karl Lagerfeld

And so to Salzburg! Karl Lagerfeld chose Austria for his latest Metiers d'Art extravangaza because of the close connection Gabrielle Chanel shared with the place. After all, it is where she clocked the idea of her now iconic jackets, inspired by the lift boy's uniform at the Mittersill hotel - as played by Pharell Williams below.

The show itself was as grand as the setting: regal grandeur, candlelit romance and overflowing buffets of fruit and Austrian delicacies filled a number of rooms while models - including Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne - made their way around.

The clothes followed suit on a majestic scale, veering on the commercial side. Everything felt somewhat outdoorsy; these were clothes to go hunting in, wear in the countryside and to town. Here we pick out the most wedding-worthy designs.
