Walking to the live strains of a string quartet playing 'All You Need Is Love' the Carolina Herrera show was like being at a chic Park Avenue wedding.
Inspired by the beauty and delicacy of fragrant white jasmine, the collection brought the flower to life and showed an exceptional attention to detail with hand-stitched cascades of floral embroidery, feather and organza floral appliqué in guipure and chantilly lace.
Classic silhouettes evolved with subtle modern updates. Organza, silk taffeta and silk gazar were reimagined with clever additions such as a halter neck, an illusion racer back, corsetry panels, a just noticeable hi-lo hem, and touches of silvery grey appliqué. Jewellery and headpieces were in the form of tiny jasmine blossoms in white enamel, echoing the floral theme.
