What an extravaganza on 42nd Street! In the buzzy Broadway setting of The New Amsterdam Theatre, home of the Aladdin musical, we were treated to exclusive preview of new Alfred Angelo 2016 collections.
This season was all about sparkle and embellishment in classic Alfred Angelo silhouettes, from chic A-lines to sultry trumpet shapes. The surprises came from a chic dupioni gown with a daring cutaway back and t-strap style halter neck, smothered in rhinestones.
Several high neck gowns gave a touch of Victoriana to the glistening affair. Our favourite? A glamorous satin mermaid gown with a sheer stretch illusion neckline (beaded of course!) with an abundance of crystals.
Ball gowns were dreamy and fairytale to a tee, with floral embroidery and intricate embellishments. A dramatic honeycomb-beaded bodice which flowed into a full embellished orangza skirt was a true princess moment.
And for the 'maids? A series of chiffon and tulle bridesmaids dresses from the Sapphire collection were shown in new sophisticated shades of navy, smoke grey, rose pink and duck egg blue lace.
But what we all couldn't wait to see was the Disney collection. This year, it was updated with a Midas touch; all the princesses were embellished with gold beading, crystals and embroidery. The standout gown was the pearl-encrusted Elsa gown with a sheer chiffon cape.
The absolute star of the show was the Princess Jasmine dress, worn by Courtney Reed, who is currently starring in the Broadway production of Aladdin. We swooned over her strapless tulle and glitter net gown with metallic embroidery and chapel length train. Heavenly!
