It was once said that nothing unimportant happens at The Plaza. Undoubtedly the ballroom must have seen some amazing sights in its 119 year history, with the 45 minute show of dazzling, sexy Berta Bridal gowns adding to the list.
Like veritable bridal beauty queens, with pony tails swinging and sparkling crowns the girls walked to Lorde and Lana del Ray, negotiating the super long runway effortlessly in the highest platforms so far this season.
The dresses oozed glamour with plunging necklines and backs, keyhole cutouts, seductive fishtails with jewel-like applique and glittering paillette-covered grid tulle.
Regal touches such as high necked boleros, lace edged cathedral trains, bell sleeves, embellished cap sleeves and pearl accents added elegance to the sexy collection.
A series of super-sparkly dresses, like a shimmering shoal of fish, with antique silver tones and floaty tulle and chiffon capes built up to the stunning finale dress: a sheer guipure lace long sleeved dress with open back and mantilla style veil.
For me, although Berta is known for bodycon and sheer, the standout dresses were the more romantic full-skirted ball gowns and lace sheaths with overskirts. Who says sophisticated can't be sexy?
