The glamour, elegance and precision of the 19th Century world of Russian ballet provided the inspiration for Alon Livné's 2016 couture bridal collection, and it certainly showed. Swan Lake met Anastasia for serious bridal prettiness!
The 38-gown collection took us on a whirlwind voyage through fluttering feathers and intricate embroidery to conjure up visions of graceful swans and glittering palaces of the past. The swan motif continued throughout the collection as symmetrical creatures were delicately appliqued onto mesh bodices and flouncy tiered skirts.
Feminine figure hugging silhouettes paired with thigh high slits and sheer fabrics added a modern edge for the more daring bride, whilst the full tulle skirts gave a fairytale aesthetic any princess (or tsarina) bride would dream of.
For a contemporary take on the classic ballerina's bun, Alon Livné created Swarovski encrusted dark metal domes to encase the hair, giving an unexpected touch of sparkle.
This was Alon Livné's first runway collection to show during New York Bridal Fashion Week but we're certain it won't be his last. With couture clients including Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, it's probably time to form an orderly queue.
