Get the champagne ready for a toast - the news we've all been waiting for is finally here! Prince Harry is engaged to Meghan Markle.

The couple will tie the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle in May.

'His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle,' an official statement from Clarence House said.

'The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course. His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his of family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents.

'The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.'

Hours after news of their plans to marry broke, Prince Harry and Meghan made their first appearance together as an engaged couple in London.

Prince Harry looked dapper in a navy suit paired with a crisp white shirt and dark tie while Meghan - who couldn't keep the smile from her face as she lovingly clutched her husband-to-be's arm - looked every so elegant in a belted white coat. She left her long dark hair loose.

Meghan even treated photographers to a close-up look at her new sparkler.

Here at Brides HQ we're obviously beyond thrilled about the upcoming royal wedding so have been debating everything from the type of gown we reckon Meghan will wear to what the wedding flowers will look like.

We're also wondering whether Kate Middleton will bag an invite to her sister-in-law-to-be's hen party and if Prince Harry is planning to ask his older brother to act as his best man. Oh how we'd love to be a fly on the wall when Wills entertains the crowd with his speech at the wedding breakfast...

And as one of the world's most high profile couples with a whole host of celebrity friends between them including tennis ace Serena Williams, singer Ellie Goulding and model Cara Delevingne, we've also been deliberating which A-listers we think will make the guest list.

Prince Harry and Meghan are believed to have started dating last summer after reportedly being introduced by New York fashion designer Misha Nonoo. But their first public appearance as a duo didn't come until September 2017 when they attended the Invictus Games together in Meghan's home town of Toronto, Canada.

The Suits star - who looked suitable chic for the occasion in a crisp white shirt and skinny jeans accessorised with an oversized tan tote - was snapped laughing and joking with our favourite redhead throughout the event. The clearly smitten duo looked extremely comfortable in each other's company and were also pictured holding hands as they left.

Their second outing as a pair came just days later at the event's closing ceremony.

It's fair to say that this is the most excited we've been about a big day since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey back in 2011. Let the planning commence.
