As creative director of Brides, Elizabeth Edwards knows a thing or five about a perfectly styled wedding. Here are her picks of what crafty brides (and in fact all brides!) absolutely need to tick off at Brides The Show 2016.
From the moment you set foot inside Brides The Show you'll be blown-away by the thousands of inspirational ideas on display. I've picked out some of my favourite things to do, ensuring there's time for a fashion show, a couple of masterclasses, photo ops, some fabulous pampering and of course some bubbles!
First up, I'm making a beeline for our standout workshop with Claire from Pop Bakery. Everyone loves a cake pop and Claire will show you how to decorate one using her paints and sprinkles. Don't worry, you don't need a degree in art - this is so easy (and you get to eat afterwards!)
As a lover of all things crafty I'd spend the majority of my weekend cutting and sticking and sewing in The Imagination Room. Don't miss the amazing Bijal from Pop Pop Papier who has decorated the room with thosands of tassels using just tissue paper to dramatic effect - she'll show you how she did it. Flower master Ricky Paul (creator of those giant carnation poodles at last year's show) will be making the cutest floral bunny ears that is every little flower-girls must-have for this season. Christine Leech will show you how to make exquisite silk flower garlands that can be adapted to adorn bridesmaids big or small as broaches and hair slides.
If you love Liberty prints and and VV Rouleaux ribbons don't miss textile desiner Sonia Bucherer's workshop where you'll learn how to make the prettiest ribbon rosettes - and then transform into hairbands and sashes. Get your nimble fingers at the ready for an origami masterclass with paper genius Esther, The Origamiest. Finally don't miss the calligraphy and brush lettering class with the hugely talented Lucy from Quill London. She'll show you the basics, and in no time you'll be a whizz with pen and ink and able to write your name and his - maybe even placenames and envelopes…
Florist Ricky Paul is bringing a huge floral peacock - the rest of his stand is top secret, but I promise it will a show-stopper! Don't miss Zita Else's stand. It oozes romance with frothy touches, whimsical ideas - and always surprises, word on the street is that this years theme is 'enchanted chic'! Look out for the incredible artisty of Kitten Grayson who has created two magnificent floral sculptures exclusively for the show - plaster dipped roses arranged with a variety of fresh flowers - they have to be seen to believed! Time for one more? London based Hiding in the City is one to watch for the newest floral trends.
Love flowers, love fragrance? Then don't forget to check in for a taster session with Jo Malone next to Philippa Craddock - another of our favourite florists. Discussion point: matching your flowers with the perfect scent…
Finally, if you haven't bought you catwalk ticket, get it now! Its bigger and more beautiful than ever... See you there!
