We had always wanted a wedding which was a little different, relaxed elegance without the pomp and ceremony associated with many traditional weddings. Originally we had booked a marquee for our lakeside venue, but when we saw the Tipis, we fell in love with them. They are a great blank canvas so you can be as creative or simple as you like – they will still look stunningly different. I must have tried on 100 different dresses, but the cliché is no myth, when you find the ‘one’ you just know. My Alan Hannah gown was soft and romantic, delicate yet dramatic and I enjoyed every minute of wearing it. For my bridesmaid’s I picked full length Grecian style dressed with a shimmery champagne colour, they were beautiful, but not very forgiving, luckily they all have fab figures so we definitely had six Pippa bottoms down the aisle! I wanted to dress the tipis with a cream shabby chic theme, to really contrast against the khaki coloured backdrop. We had pearl draped candelabras and hydrangea filled birdcages as centrepieces, and we made our own mini oak tree favours which added a lovely touch of the outdoors to the tables. My flowers were soft pastel peonies and hydrangeas, I have never been the biggest fan of roses but love flowers with really soft textured petals. I will never be able to thank our close friends and family enough for all of their hard work and help in helping us prepare, dress, light and even help construct the tipis ahead of the wedding, we will be forever in debt to them! All of our suppliers were fantastic – and the extremely talented Lucy Davenport ( www.lucydavenport.co.uk ) has captured the highlights and emotion of our day perfectly – so we can remember the best day of our lives, for the rest of our lives.
