English Folk Style Wedding

Alex and I both have similar tastes and knew that we wanted a wedding inspired by English folk traditions and the English countryside. We got married in the little village church where I grew up, it has such a lovely Sussex countryside setting. My mum is a Morris dancer so we had a folk band in the church and Morris dancers dancing while the photos were taken. We then went to the Walled Gardens at Cowdray Park, which is a setting of gorgeous English garden flowers against the back drop of ancient ruins. There had been thunderstorms predicted for our wedding day and I was so worried but the weather was perfect! We had a buffet starter outside and then a 2 course sit down meal inside. I’d decided to do a speech, which went down so much better than I could have anticipated and during my mum’s speech she got some actors to do a scene from my favourite play, Much Ado about Nothing, which was a lovely surprise. The night ended with a barn dance, which got everyone up dancing, young and old.
