Having the wedding at a hotel meant that the tedious details were taken care of and we could focus on the fun bits. Everything was under one roof: the florist, catering, master of wine and our own event manager. We chose the last Saturday before Christmas because everyone is in a good mood that time of year and nothing is more beautiful than a crisp December day. Our event manager suggested we have pewter silk tablecloths, which gave our wedding a very different look. The reception was in the new ballroom at the Dorchester which is the perfect mix of vintage glamour and modern day cool. My godmother did the flowers for the church and we used the florist at the Dorchester for the reception. By coincidence, my godmother’s first job was at The Dorchester so it felt like a good combination! I wrote a personal note to each guest and then used the envelope as a place-card – I knew I’d be too emotional to do a speech.
