We're very excited to welcome the new Illuminum Fragrance Lounge to Mayfair in London, quite possibly the chicest new boutique in which to choose your wedding day perfume.
Fragrance enthusiasts will know that the brand (founded by British perfumer Michael Boadi) created the delicious White Gardenia Petals scent worn by Catherine Middleton on her wedding day, and has a superstar fan-club including Angelina Jolie, Leonardo di Caprio, Rihanna and Michelle Obama. When the most beautiful and stylish people on the planet pick the same perfumer, well, you know they're onto a good thing.
The perfumery is the polar opposite to the headachy, frustrating and stressful beauty halls of a department store: it's serene, quiet, cool and comfortable, with plenty of lounging space and absolutely no hurrying staff.
"I want to create an oasis of fragrance in the heart of the city"
says Michael. "There will be no rushing at The Fragrance Lounge,
you can sit and enjoy an espresso or a glass of champagne and take
your time - selecting from my scents should be a joyous experience
and there are 32 to choose from!"
Based on the ground floor of an elegant Georgian townhouse, the 1500 sq ft space has a private room - ideal for hen parties or a treat with mum - and overall a simple chocolate decor, relaxing airiness and amazingly knowledgeable staff that together make the entire scent search completely wonderful and memorable. Just how it should be.
There are 16 fragrances in the original collection (£70 each), and a further 16 brand new 'Haute' perfumes using slightly more costly ingredients and exclusive to the boutique (from £175), so with 32 choices you're sure to find one that fits like a glove.
