I love that deep, smouldering eye make-up look that's so loved on the red carpet, where the inner fleshy lash rims are drawn over with kohl (Angelina goes for chocolate brown, whilst Scarlett Johansson favours black). It really makes your eye colour pop and elevates your make-up to starlet status.
I've tried the look several times and found that if I use an ordinary pencil it tends to run off to the corners by the end of the day and smudge a fair bit.
My most long-lasting result comes from Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, applied with a soft eyeliner brush (I like Dior's Backstage Eyeliner Brush, £15.50).
Before applying, make sure your lashes are thoroughly curled and macara'd. The curling lifts off any droopy lashes, and once the mascara is fully dried you can gently press you finger on them to expose the fleshy part even more.
Carefully paint on the inky gel from corner to corner, then cover the lower fleshy rim. Voila: red carpet eyes that last from aisle to dancefloor.
