Until we find a foundation that melts away a double chin, we'll happily take any brilliant make-up miracles that fool the camera into thinking we've dropped 10lb.
We turned to Guerlian (the brand that sells one Terracotta Bronzing powder every 20 seconds) and asked Richard Hawkins, director of education and development, for his tricks of the trade:
"Contour using a matt bronzing powder one or two shades darker than your normal skin colour. To slim your face, apply it at the sides near your hairline and ears, under the jaw line and in the hollows of your cheeks."
"If you're not keen on looking too bronzed, you can use highlighting products instead (avoid anything with too much sparkle). Focus on your lips and cheekbones as too much shimmery 'glow' is not always flattering in photos."
"A highlighting pen, such as Guerlian Precious Light, is perfect for sculpting. The pink tone adds light to the complexion and should be applied in the opposite way to a bronzer, whenever light naturally hits your face. Swipe the pen across your forehead, down your nose and on your chin, over your make-up, and then blend in."
"When using blush, focus only on the apples of your cheeks. Extended colour along the cheekbones or across the eyes will make your face appear wider."
"A bright, shimmering lip colour with focus attention on the centre of your face, which will also enchace the slimming effect."
