If we were ask you to 'describe a quintessential bridal scent', we'd expect the overwhelming response would include white flowers or fruit blossoms. Star Magnolia, the new fragrance from Jo Malone London, marries those two wedding-worthy scent categories into a fresh, vibrant fragrance with a sexy twist. It's a serious contender for the best wedding perfume for 2017.
'Star Magnolia is a gleaming, pristine flower with an unusual freshness,' explains master perfumer, Anne Filipo, who drew inspiration from the frothy white daisy-like blooms on a star magnolia tree, discovered on a trip to Shanghai in 2014.
Though inspired by Asia, there's a real sense of English gardens, too. It's like a frothy tulle skirt rippling in the cool breeze on your wedding morning, brushing along the dewy grass as you look for that perfect first shot. Though it's ultimately floral, there's no risk of being cloying or powdery due to the punch of freshness from green magnolia leaves, zesty orange blossom and lemon.
'As the day develops, out creeps the earthy sandalwood and an intense hit of citrus, so if you're looking for something a little sexier than a traditional white floral - and one that can take you from fun wedding morning to romantic wedding night - your search stops right here,' says Brides beauty assistant Sophie Cullen.
For the first time, too, Star Magnolia also comes in a hair mist, which you can use to scent your wedding hair do (spritz once it's all finished for the best result) help intensify the fragrance to carry you from ceremony to dance floor.
Star Magnolia launches on 11th April 2017, priced at £46 for 30ml cologne, £92 for 100ml cologne and £38 for 50ml hair mist, jomalone.co.uk
