This pink palace is the only hotel on the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu National Park, which makes up the 240,000 hectares of rainforest, wildlife and water that straddles the Brazil-Argentina border.

All this grants you your very own private view of the famous thundering Iguaçu falls and river before and after the hordes of daytrippers file past. In 14 of the grand, colonial-styled rooms, you don't even have to leave your suite to catch a glimpse, although wherever you are in the hotel you can hear the muffled roar of all 275 pounding cascades.

WOW FACTOR Time your stay over a full moon and you'll have the rare chance to see a lunar rainbow, where the falls' spray casts an arced illusion in a spectrum of blue- and purple-tinged greys.
