Paris may have the edge for l'amour, but for sexiness, all roads lead to Rome. This ancient city has glamour galore, with gorgeous parks, venerable ruins and stunning frescoes in every direction.
In the middle of it all is the chichi Hotel Eden, which, following a multimillion-pound refurbishment, is back in the running as the place to stay in the Eternal City. Once the favourite haunt of Ernest Hemingway, Ingrid Bergman and Federico Fellini, this hotel is seriously impressive - each of its 121 rooms has soaring ceilings, mahogany furniture and Napoleon III sofas.
Head to the famous Spanish Steps for some people-spotting or wander through the handsome Villa Borghese next door, which contains the Museo e Galleria Borghese, arguably the best gallery in Rome after the Vatican.
Of course, no visit to the city would be complete without pizza - just be sure to shy away from the tourist spots. From the outside, Pizzarium may look like a nondescript takeaway, but its fluffy-dough creations are out of this world, as are the supplì (crunchy fried rice balls). You'll never look at a Domino's again…
