Walking out along the jetty to Jumeirah Dhevanafushi's outstanding Talise Spa feels like entering another world. This is not only because it has its own dedicated island, or even because massage beds are suspended over portholes, meaning that you can watch fish, turtles and eagle rays swim by as you enjoy a first-class treatment.
No, it's the feeling you get on arrival that makes this place so special. This holistic high-flyer has everything a spa junkie could desire, be it treatments (two 30-minute detox body wraps each are included) and alternative therapies, workouts and yoga, all on a tiny unspoilt island in the Indian Ocean.
There are two types of accommodation - overwater villas and squirreled-away beachfront properties - each with a butler.
You don't have to lapse with your workouts, either. Visiting the gym here feels less arduous than at home, probably because of the views of dolphins playing close by.
If you're after a self-centred dose of spoiling, you can end your search now.
WOW FACTOR: Ask for the (super-strong) healing hands of therapist Lee. You'll be too dazed to move afterwards.
GO: Elegant Resorts (www.elegantresorts.co.uk) offers seven nights from £4,275 per person, B&B. Includes flights and private transfers.

It's 20 steps (we counted!) from the private deck of your Beach Revives villa to the ocean, so you can be snorkelling one of the most impressive coral reefs in the Maldives in about six minutes.
Back on dry land, all guests are given a personal butler (there are only 35 villas but 160 staff). Start the day with a stroll around the island - it's the best way to remind yourself of the idyllic location you're in.
Come afternoon, sample the Talise Spa (try the Balinese massage). One of the resort's standout features is the Ocean Pearls, a collection of over-water villas only accessible by a 10-minute speedboat hop. Here you'll also find Johara restaurant - not to be missed.
WOW FACTOR: Take out one of the hotel's pedalos and make your way around the island. After 20 minutes, 15 dolphins were following us!
