When entering the Mondrian SoHo along a canopied walkway, you could be forgiven for thinking you're strutting along a Fashion Week catwalk. Or, at least, that was the view loudly proclaimed by one guest we overheard - and we couldn't agree more.
It all adds to the seriously hip vibe that permeates this hotel. Design is high on the agenda: inspired by Jean Cocteau's 1946 film La Belle Et La Bête, all the 270 rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and bright blue-and-white decor. Suites are loftily spacious, oases of calm above the chattering streets below, with views that pack a punch. Soak it all up from the rooftop bar (closed during winter), or the Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar, and its garden seating area. There's even a discreet club downstairs, if you fancy pushing on through to the early hours.
WOW FACTOR Knock back a Horny Goat Weed Chaser in the club - just don't expect to get up pre-midday!

The chic Mondrian is the hottest new addition to New York's hotel scene.
Guests pass through an entrance surrounded by foliage into a blue-and-white interior with bespoke furniture inspired by the film La Belle et la Bête.
The hotel's restaurant, Imperial No. Nine, is ultra romantic, while the bar serves moreish cocktails to a dressed-up party crowd.
Rooms are small but beautiful, with huge marble showers and city views. An in-room iPad programmed with Go:ogle Maps is helpful when navigating the West Village.
WOW FACTOR: The courtyard is a must for sipping cocktails on a balmy night.
