Most of us can distinguish between a carat and a carrot, but what about a baguette? Ring lingo can be confusing at the best of times, so get ahead of the game by reading our guide on what it all really means...
Carat: Diamonds, gold, platinum and silver are weighed in carats and as the weight increases, so does the rarity and the price.
Cut: The shape of a stone - keep your eyes peeled for our cut guide!
Baguette: A rectangular diamond, often used on each side of a focal diamond.
CARING FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING
Pavé: Tiny diamonds tightly 'paved' together. Picture a cobbled street of diamonds!
Clarity: Refers to the visual clearness of the diamond. The fewer blemishes (known as 'inclusions') there are, the pricier the stone. (Learn more here)
Eternity: A ring of pavé diamonds set into a band or ring. On a half-eternity ring, the diamonds only go round part of the ring.
