Being a bridesmaid is harder than it seems, and if you are a
bride-to-be, here are a few things you should consider when
selecting your bridesmaids:
As a bridesmaid... what I'd tell the bride:
-Don't ask me to be a bridesmaid if you can't afford the expense,
or if you have lots of sisters. I won't be offended, especially if
you're honest from the start
-Don't demand that I have a spray tan so all the bridesmaids
match
-Do take us to the high street for our dresses. There's so much out
there and chances are we can wear them again. On that topic: don't
make me wear lilac. It doesn't suit anyone.
-Don't ask us to spend a hen weekend somewhere expensive. Think
about us too - we might not be able to afford it and we'll
only end up resenting you as a result.
-We're here to help, so do delegate, but don't give us huge tasks
like find a florist or booking a crèche service. Its undue pressure
and we'll probably get it wrong.
