If your idea of a perfect honeymoon involves shopping, eating out, drinking cocktails and generally pretending that you and your new husband are Carrie and Mr Big, then the newly refurbished Mark Hotel - just steps away from Carrie's "heaven on Fifth" apartment - is almost certainly the place for you.

The Art Deco-meets-contemporary-art-scene décor of the lobby - furnished by Parisian art dealer Pierre Passebon and long-time partner, French decorator Jacques Grange - is continued throughout the hotel, evoking the traditional yet modern feel of the city outside the doors...but it's what's inside that counts.

The Mark has everything you could want from a put-the-do-not-disturb-sign-up honeymoon destination: from the helpful staff, to the swimming pool-sized baths, to the Frédéric Fekkai hair salon, to the television set inside the bathroom mirror, to comfort food favourites like macaroni cheese on the room service menu. You'll be a more dedicated sightseer than most if you manage to stay out past 8pm.

If you can bear to leave the hotel, Central Park is less than a minute's walk away and the hotel is sandwiched between two of the Big Apple's most prestigious shopping streets, Madison and Fifth, making it almost rude not to shop.
