Michaela Urwin, 32, married Carl Reilly, 33, at Villa Alegria in Mykonos, Greece, on 1st September 2017. She says:

I always wanted a destination wedding where all of the day's events could happen in one place. The villa has a beautiful chapel in its garden, which we married in front of, and my aunt conducted the ceremony. It was ideal that our close family could stay in the villa in both the lead-up to and after the day itself.

All of our catering was also done by the Villa Alegria, which made things much simpler. We loved the homemade aubergine wraps and Thai spring rolls. They were so fresh and delicious.

I travelled to Opus Atelier in West Kilbride in Scotland from my hometown, Newcastle, specifically to try Badgley Mischka gowns. I tried on so many gowns by the designer that I thought I was in love with, but they just didn't suit me. It was my sister who saw my dress hanging up - a one-off sample. It really didn't take my fancy, as it had a lot of detail (petals, lace, crystals, layers...). But my sister and the wonderful shop assistant convinced me to put it on and it was simply perfect. It fit like a glove. I walked out of the shop with that sample dress in a bag - zero alterations needed.

All of the ushers and my nephew (our page boy and ring bearer) wore tailor-made suits from Coventry Tailoring in Dubai, where my husband and I live. The combination of beige and blue looked lovely in our Greek island setting. (And that blue was the only nod I allowed Carl to have to his favourite football team!)

Our biggest bargain was my seven bridesmaid dresses. All of the fabric came to only £25 total, and my mum very kindly made them as a wedding gift.
