Stationery designer Louise Cunningham, 29, wed
musician Danny Maddocks, 29, nine years afer they met at
university.
Louise says: "The venue suited our style perfectly. It was a
combination of the old and the new in an idyllic setting. We
had the place to ourselves for a long weekend and
hosted a barbecue on the Thursday and a pre-wedding party
on the Friday night.
The church looked romantic. I used pillar candles and
scattered rose petals. During the signing of the register, our
pianist played a piece of music Danny composed.
Guests were invited to take home our flowers, which were in
bowls on the tables. As favours, we had truffles for the
men and silk fans for the ladies, which reflected our
honeymoon in Singapore and Bali.
A selection of cocktails were offered at the drinks reception.
We had pink mojitos, peach cosmopolitans and
strawberry daiquiris; there was also bottled beer,
plus pink lemonade for the non-drinkers.
Our first dance was a highlight of the evening. I was so
nervous, we took dance lessons beforehand. There were spins
and turns; I forgot a few of the steps but everyone said
it was fantastic.
My advice to brides: When you set your budget, factor in £500
for unforeseen costs. Postage for our invitations was
expensive, as we had to pay the large-letter rate and
I hadn''t realised that the bridesmaid dress costs
didn''t include alterations."
