Geraldine van Oversteeg, 39, married Richard Assen, 42, at Villa Piaggia, in Montaione, Italy, on 22nd May 2016. She says:

Violeta Minnick

Richard and I wanted to create the perfect Tuscan summer wedding and Villa Piaggia was ideal. The exclusive venue is beautiful, secluded and private - plus, it was very accommodating of kids, which was important to us.

I wanted our children, Roemer and Kaatje, to be included in the ceremony because we saw our wedding as a special union between the four of us. We had them bring our wedding rings forward during our vows - the celebrant then asked them funny questions in which they promised to be good and love each other! For all the flowers, we tried to keep things simple. I carried a gypsophila bouquet, while for the ceremony, we put together a variety of herbs in terracotta pots with white candles dotted about.

On the Monday after the wedding, we hired a barista and coffee cart to see all our guests off. We didn't have favours on the wedding day itself, but instead created a special wrap for all the cofee cups with a thank-you note on. Guests could then take their cups with them, as well as a bag of Tuscan cookies. My top tip: Consider having your legal ceremony at home and having a blessing abroad instead. To avoid any legal issues, we actually married 'for real' in Amsterdam three months afer our Italian 'wedding' - it took so much stress out of everything.
