'I just love pink!' says magazine beauty editor Elizabeth
Barnett, 34, of her wedding to 40-year-old banker Paul Lawton. 'It
was a city wedding, but we didn't want it to seem too English and
stuffily formal. I wanted Moroccan touches to add that relaxed,
summer feel, even though it was a September wedding. The bright
pink and gold created a vibrant look and we had a gourmet buffet
rather than a traditional sit-down dinner.'
The ceremony was held at St Luke's church, a five-minute walk from
the Chelsea garden square outside Paul's family house where the
marquee was set up. 'One of my favourite moments was when I reached
the top of the aisle,' says Elizabeth. 'Paul had been watching me
walk towards him and just mouthed "wow". I couldn't stop
smiling.'
Guests then moved to the square where trees were decorated with
fairy lights and flame torches lit up the path. Champagne and
Pimm's were served outside before the gourmet buffet was held in
the marquee. 'The DJ played until we headed into the house at
10.30pm for drinks in the library,' says Elizabeth.
