Kari Rosenburg, 27, married Jerome Colmans, 29, at Finca Son Mir in Palma, Mallorca, on 3 July 2014. She says:

"We wanted to get married abroad, and Mallorca was an easy choice for us. Both our families have houses there, and it was where Jerome and I had our first kiss!

Our vision for the day was The Great Gatsby, with a colour palette of neutral shades and blushes. The venue was covered in gorgeous flowers and looked so beautiful that we didn't want to compete with it.

The venue's general manager, Pep, let us have complete creative rein, so we built three separate areas for the ceremony, the reception and the evening party.

Because the venue isn't a hotel, we didn't have to observe strict Spanish laws on not playing music outside after midnight - there was nobody around to complain!

I'd had my heart set on a flower wall, but then decided against it because of the cost. But my dad got together with our wedding planners, Javier and Tony, and they created one for us as a last-minute surprise.

Jerome and I both wanted the food to represent our tastes as a couple, so we served our guests a selection of tapas-style dishes, including Egyptian spiced salmon brochettes and watermelon and peach salad, followed by wild sea bass with rosemary fondant potatoes. It was all delicious!

My flowers were a surprise - I didn't see my bouquet, or the bridesmaids', until the morning of the actual wedding. But I totally trusted Javier and Tony, and decided to leave it in their expert hands.

My top tip: Get a good wedding planner, if you can. They take away all stress on the day so that you can really enjoy every second."
