Seb and I have been together since we were teenagers and have always talked about getting married, so for us it was important not to get too carried away in the planning and to keep it simple.

I thought I would break tradition and get married in the beautiful Kent countryside, where Seb is from. The church is part of my mother-in-law's parish and so it meant a lot to us to have our service there.

HOW TO PLAN A WEDDING

For our colour scheme, I didn't want anything too bold so chose lots of soft, natural colours to reflect the picturesque surrounding countryside.

We had a lot of help from our family including collecting and drying rose petals, making our cakes (my mum made the most delicious meringue tower with blueberry coulis), preparing bunting and making our orders of service.

DIY DETAILS FOR YOUR BIG DAY

Having the speeches before the food at the reception made the day flow really well. My favourite moment was when my sister sung our first dance song and Seb and I had prepared a Viennese waltz as a surprise.

My top tip: Don't overcomplicate things. Remember you're the only person who will recognise if something goes wrong, your guests don't know what it's meant to be like, and, honestly, they don't mind.
