Sabrina James, 33, married Jamal Reid, 34 at St Joan of Arc Church, Farnham, Surrey, followed by a reception at Froyle Park, Alton, Hampshire on 6 August 2015. She says:

"We wanted an English country wedding to give both of our families who are all Londoners a new experience. We began our search in Farnham, in Surrey as I went to university there and have always loved the town.

We went to see newly opened Froyle Park and simply fell in love. It is a Jacobean Manor House once owned by William the Conqueror and has been styled with furniture and accessories from this period.  It was 10 minutes away from the church so it was perfect.

I wore a mermaid style all lace dress by designers Lusan Mandongus. It featured a layer of laser cut lace topped with Chantilly lace finished with a sweetheart neckline and diamante belt.

We included a surprise rose ceremony in our wedding service to honour both our mums. The priest honoured them by explaining they were both single mothers and had supported us with raising our own children amongst many other things. They were both called up to the alter where we presented them each with a rose.

We chose a champagne and ivory to create a classic and opulent look; we also had flowers everywhere which created a really luxurious feel to the day.

Listening to my husband's speech and him honouring our relationship and achievements over the past 17 years was really emotional and very special. It was a real celebration of our commitment to each other and the young family we have raised.

My top tip: Hire a wedding planner just for the day. Having someone to coordinate all the elements you have planned and liaise with all the suppliers you have booked is a must.
