Traditional Wedding

It's not often you require the Queen's permission to put up your wedding marquee, but that's exactly what bride Danielle, 30, a PA, needed when she married Ted, 31, at Wellington Barracks, overlooking London's St. James's Park. As a former captain with the Irish Guards, Ted was give special permission to hold his wedding here. The couple also required consent from the Archbishop of Canterbury for their service at the Guards Chapel in the Barracks. On arrival at the gilt-ceilinged chapel, the 300 guests were welcomed by soldiers wearing traditional red jackets and black busbies, standing in line.

Delicious canapés were served, including fillets of lamb on rosemary sticks, wild mushrooms in thyme pastry cases and seared tiger prawns with sweet chilli and coriander relish. Dinner was held in a marquee on the lawn behind the venue's parade square, which was decorated with high and low arrangements of roses and lilies. After a five-course sit-down feast, a DJ played a mixture of modern and classic music. With all the excitement, the newlyweds completely forgot to cut their wedding cake. 'It was still intact the following morning!' says Danielle.
