Milly Goodwin, 29, married David Cleveland, 36, at her family home in Berkshire, in June 2012. She says:
Budget played a big part as we were paying for the wedding ourselves. My parents offered us he use of their garden and we went from there.
We wanted a big top for our vintage fairground theme. There were very few out there with a capacity fewer than 2,000 people. We only needed it for 130 guests.
Our hearts broke when rain was forecast, so we rushed out the day before the wedding to buy 20 gazebos to make a huge canopy for the ceremony.
We had a humanist service, having been to the registry office two days before. It allowed us to have our own vows and was more personal.
I chose my dress after I saw an advert for the designer, Le Spose di Gio, in Brides.
We planned to make the bouquets ourselves so we ordered 50 peonies from my local florist. Three days before the wedding i realised they had ordered tight buds not big blooms. I told them and they set about fooling the flowers to open. Luckily, by Sunday they looked incredible.
We did all the cooking, with the help of family, friends and the Leon cookbook!
My top tip: The extras for the marquee all add up. We made the dance floor from wooden pallets to keep the costs down.
