For freelance interior stylist Sally McEwan, 32, planning her
wedding to Ivan Cullen, 36, a film editor, was her perfect job. "I
had more ideas than I was able to fit into one day, as I am
constantly surrounded by inspiration at work," says Sally. "Once we
had chosen the venue, it was easier to narrow my ideas down, as we
decided to keep with the interior's pink and duck-egg blue colours
and have a Marie Antoinette theme, including macaroons as favours."
Setting the date was easy. As the couple had met on 29 November
2006 and Ivan proposed on 29 November 2007, they decided to marry
on 29 November 2008.
Sally sourced all the vintage touches herself, from the antique
mirror on which canapés were served, to the old dressing screen
which she used to display table-plan frames. Ivan also played his
part, designing the wedding stationery using rose motifs from the
ceilings of Chandos House.
"I enjoyed planning the look of the wedding so much, but my best
memories are the emotional ones," says Sally. "Arriving in the car
with my dad and seeing my mum and brother waiting to greet me, and
catching Ivan's eye as I walked down the aisle - those are the
details that mattered the most."
